The RTA is continuing to work with Queensland’s rental sector to ensure everyone has access to timely, accurate and impartial information, resources and education about changes to residential tenancy laws.

Ongoing rental reforms

The Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 was developed to broaden Queensland’s residential tenancy laws while making sure it is viable for property owners to provide housing options.

Ongoing rental reforms are occurring across five key areas including:

  1. installing modifications
  2. making personalisation changes
  3. balancing privacy and access
  4. amending the rental bond process
  5. addressing fees and charges.
